This is a legal requirement, which all financial institutions must follow. It helps to prevent fraud, money laundering and other financial crimes. Find out how you can update your details below.
Change your address
You can change your living or correspondence address by completing a change of address form, and posting it to:

Change your name
If you want to change your name for any reason, you will need to send us your:
- Mortgage number
- Old signature
- New signature, and
- A certified copy of your passport or driving license
We'll need to see more proof, depending on why your name has changed. If the change is:
- Due to marriage - a certified copy of your marriage certificate is required
- Due to divorce - certified copies of your marriage certificate, divorce papers and birth certificate are required
- By deed poll - a certified copy of your deed poll papers is required.

Limited company changes
You must apply for our consent to make any company changes. All applications are subject to a risk assessment.
If the company changes have already been made and these are not acceptable to us, you will need to reinstate to the structure we originally agreed to, or redeem the mortgage.

Change Director or Shareholder
Please complete, sign and post a Change of Director or Shareholder form to:

Please let us know at least 28 days in advance if you want to make any changes to the directors, or shareholders of your company, so that we can process your request in time.
If we approve your request, you will need to pay a ‘change of parties fee’. See Our fees and charges for details.
Unacceptable company changes
We will not accept the following changes:
- Conversion of the company to a Charity, Trust or Foundation
- Restructuring the company so it becomes part of a layered company, including subsidiaries, parent and sister companies
- Having any links to offshore companies, including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man
- Addition of directors or shareholders under the age of 21

We've updated our ID requirements. Some of the documents we ask you to provide may be different to those requested previously. Please review the new ID requirements before visiting a branch or sending any identification documents to us.
You must use your full legal name, including any middle names, when making a change. Any ID documents you provide must show your middle name.
When you change your details, we may ask you to provide proof of your identity. This helps to protect you from identity fraud and allows us to meet UK money laundering regulations.

How to confirm your name and address
You'll need to provide either:
- A valid full or provisional UK photocard driving licence.
Or
Two separate documents:
- One from the Proof of name list below.
- One from the Proof of current address list below.
You can't use the same document for both. All documents must be current and valid.

*Important: We cannot accept proof of address from Nationwide, Virgin Money or The Mortgage Works. Statements must be from a different source, i.e. a bank or credit card statement used for proof of name can't be from the same provider as a mortgage statement taken for proof of address.
If submitting a digital proof, only UK State benefit entitlement, University/College letter, HMRC Tax Correspondence, UK Mortgage Statement, UK Credit Card Statement and UK Bank Statement are permitted. These documents need to show the full customer details including sort code and account numbers.
Non-European Economic Area Nationwide resident in the UK
Clients who aren't from the European Economic Area will need to provide:
- Proof of name: National passport
- Proof of address: One document from the above Proof of Address list
When we ask for certified copies of proofs, the person certifying the copy must write their full name and occupation, sign, date and confirm that they have seen the original by including the statement ‘original seen’. It must also include the company stamp.
Please ensure the copy and certification is legible and don’t send a photocopy of the certified copy.
