Eligibility

First, check that you meet all our eligibility criteria:

  • At least one person applying for the mortgage currently owns a UK property
  • You are aged 21 or over
  • You have been a UK resident for the last 3 years
  • You have a clear credit history (for example, no bankruptcy or repossessions) over the past 4 years, and no county court judgements for the past 6 years
  • The property is in England, Scotland or Wales
  • The value of the property is at least £50,000     
  • The property is in a lettable condition and has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E or higher (unless exempt)
  • You have a deposit or equity of at least 20%, or 25% if the property has a EPC rating of D or E.

And if you want to remortgage:

  • You have rented the property (or another property) for over 6 months to a non-family member.

All buy to let mortgages are subject to underwriting and criteria. Mortgages are secured on your property. You could lose your property if you do not keep up payments on your mortgage.
