You can tell us about the death online. Find out how to do this on Nationwide's dedicated bereavement page.
The Mortgage Works is the specialist buy to let lender of Nationwide Building Society. Nationwide has a central bereavement team who look after multiple products, including mortgages with The Mortgage Works. In the event of a bereavement, you only need to notify Nationwide and all products in their name will be updated.
What happens after you tell us
- Your case will be picked up by The Mortgage Works' Bereavement Team and a case owner will be assigned to your case, giving you one point of contact.
- We will write out to you with the next steps on the account including what documents you need to provide. The first letter you receive from us, to acknowledge the bereavement, will be from Nationwide. Any subsequent letters will be from The Mortgage Works.

Limited Company mortgages
If a director or shareholder of the Limited Company has died and the company structure is changing, please provide a copy of the death certificate. In addition, please complete and sign a change of director or shareholder form.
